Nanango is nestled in the South Burnett Region of Queensland 2 1/2 hours North West of Brisbane. Nanango is home to the Tarong Power Station as well as having a rich agricultural history.
The Show Society is hosting it's 100th Show in 2009. This is a great achievement for a small country town.
The Show Society is a volunteer organisation which does rely on the support of Sponsors, Donors and a wonderful crew of dedicated Volunteers who make all the events a very high standard. The facilities are regarded as some of the best available in country Queensland and this is due to the dedicated small band of volunteers who take pride in their Society.
The objects for which the Show Society is established are:
- To promote the development of the agricultural, pastoral, horticultural, mining and industrial resources of the Nanango district.
- To establish relations with all district show societies, and with those of sister states having a similar object in view.
- To encourage the application of science to the general purposes of agriculture and industry.
- To hold exhibitions in Nanango for the display of horses, cattle, sheep and other livestock, wool, agricultural produce of all kinds, and machinery, together with such other articles of manufacture, produce or the arts as may be deemed desirable and to establish, in connection therewith, a market for the sale of exhibited livestock, machinery etc.
The Show Society has diversified over the years and now hosts many of the Nanango Districts major events. Some of these include Nananago Country Music Muster, Monthly Markets, Campdraft, Show, Bull Sales.
The grounds are also used by The Nanango Pony Club, The Nanango Kennel Club, Miss Melindas Dance Studio, Nanango Heritage Endurance Riders Association and other organisations through out the year.
